ExpireAlarm – Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2025
ExpireAlarm helps you track food expiration dates and receive gentle reminders. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.
————————
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Enter
ExpireAlarm stores the information you add — such as food names, expiration dates, notes, counts, and optional photos.
This data stays in your iCloud private database and on your devices. It is not shared with any external parties.
1.2 Device Information
The app uses Apple frameworks such as CloudKit, Vision OCR, Widgets, and Apple Intelligence when supported. These operate under Apple’s system-level privacy protections.
ExpireAlarm does not collect analytics or device identifiers of its own.
1.3 Third-Party Advertising (Free Users Only)
ExpireAlarm displays Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) banner ads for free-tier users.
AdMob may collect data required to display, measure, and optimize ads. For details, please review Google’s policies:
- Google AdMob for Families/Kids:
- Google Privacy Policy:
Pro users do not see ads and no ad-related data is collected for them.

2. How We Use Your Data
2.1 To Provide App Features
We use your data to support core features:
- Tracking and displaying items with expiration dates.
- Generating reminders and widget content.
- Optional Vision OCR label scanning.
- Optional Apple Intelligence storage tips and recipe ideas (on supported devices).
2.2 Syncing Across Devices
Your food list syncs through iCloud’s private database.
This is encrypted and managed by Apple.
We cannot access this information.
2.3 In-App Purchases
We use StoreKit 2 to process purchases such as the Pro upgrade.
No financial information is ever stored in the app.
————————
3. Sharing of Data
3.1 Third Parties
We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
- Google AdMob, for free-tier ad display.
- Apple, when the OS and iCloud features operate normally.
No other sharing occurs.
3.2 Shared Collections
If you choose to share a list using CloudKit sharing, Apple manages the sharing. Only people you explicitly invite can access it.
————————
4. Children’s Privacy
ExpireAlarm does not target children directly.
However, if the app is used by minors, it operates under the same strict privacy standards — no analytics, no tracking, and no data sharing except through AdMob for free users.
If you are required to comply with kids’ app guidelines, choose the policy that matches your app configuration.
————————
5. Your Choices
- Disable Ads: Purchasing the Pro upgrade removes ads and stops all ad-related data collection.
- iCloud: You may disable iCloud syncing in system settings, but app features relying on CloudKit will not function.
- Photos Permission: You can deny access to your photos; OCR and image attachment features will be disabled.
————————
6. Data Security
All data stored in iCloud is encrypted and managed by Apple.
ExpireAlarm does not maintain independent servers and has no technical ability to view your private iCloud data.
————————
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Updates will be posted on this page.
